HALLOWEEN WITCH WREATH TUTORIAL

MATERIALS:

1 14″ Metal Wire Wreath Form
2-10” Deco Mesh Rolls (We used Orange and Purple)
1 roll of 1.5″ Striped Halloween Ribbon
1 roll of 2.5” Orange /Black Polka Dot Ribbon
28 Chenille Stems/Pipe Cleaners
“Happy Halloween” Accent Sign with Zip Tie Adhesive Mounts
Witch Hat & Legs Accent
1 pkg Deco Mesh Tubing (purple)
1 Small Zip Tie
Rotary Cutter (Optional)
Scissors
Self-Healing Mat (Optional)
Bowdabra or any other Bow Maker
Hot Glue Gun
Wire Cutters
Chip Clip or Clothes Pin

STEP 1: CREATE YOUR WREATH FORM

We have a few different styles of wreath bases that you can use to make this wreath. For this wreath we used the Single Layer Cruffle Style so the tutorial on how to make the work wreath form can be found here:

STEP 2: CREATE YOUR WREATH BASE

We also have a couple different tutorials on ways to make wreath bases. Click on the links to be taken to the tutorials. Any style can be used for this project:

We used the Single Layer Cruffle Method for our example.

STEP 3: ADD RIBBON

In this example we used one 1.5″ ribbon and one 2.5″ ribbon. Cut the ribbon into 13″ pieces. You will need 12-18 of each style, depending on which wreath base you are using. We needed only 12 of each for this wreath style. Cut your dovetails on both sets of ribbons. Place your ribbons in an X then pinch in the center and attach to every other deco mesh ruffle. STEP 3: ATTACH YOUR ACCENT SIGN

Before I add my accent sign, I place a zip tie loop on the top back of the wreath for hanging. Loop the zip tie around a vertical wire so it maintains a secure hold.

For this step I will direct you to a tutorial we have on Attaching an Accent Sign to Your Wreath. For this accent sign, you want it to place it below center to leave room for your witch hat. Adding accent signs is not an exact science. you will need to decide where you would like it and adjust either side if necessary.

Use Chenille Stems to attach your sign.

Attach directly to wreath form.

Make sure you are happy with placement.

STEP 4: ATTACH YOUR WITCH HAT & LEG ACCENT

I chose to put the hat directly above the middle on this wreath to tie in with the sign. The legs I placed directly under the sign. The hat has three wires, one on the top and one on each side on the bottom. You want to line the hat up so you know where to pull the wires through. Then twist your wire around the wire of the wreath form until you have about a 1-2″ stem. Trim the wire with wire cutters and tuck the wire under to prevent cuts and damage to your wall.
